Job Title: Health and Nutrition Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-time
Salary Grade: 8b. (22.80/per hour)
Reports to: Head Start Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Head Start Director, the Health/Nutrition Manager will perform all duties and job-related services necessary to ensure compliance of the Health and Nutrition components with the Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, as well as USDA, federal, state, and local rules and regulations. The Health/Nutrition Manager will work closely with all other Component Coordinators. Travel in the eight-county service area is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- To develop and manage the health/nutrition components in compliance with Head Start objectives, work plans, performance standards, and grant administration policies.
- To provide leadership in hiring, orienting, training, directing, and evaluating personnel working with the health/nutrition components.
- To manage the coordination of the health/nutrition components with center supervisors and other components, offices, and divisions for efficient planning and implementation of Head Start objectives and work plans.
- To exercise administrative control over the record keeping, reporting, and operating systems for the health/nutrition components and the USDA-CACFP requirements.
- To provide leadership in working with the Head Start Policy Council, Advisory Committees, and parent committees, in reviewing and understanding health/nutrition component plans and budgets; and in developing parent and community participation and support.
- To supervise all Cooks and Cook Aides and complete yearly evaluations.
- To hire, orient, train, direct, and evaluate personnel working in the nutrition services component area.
- To assume related duties as assigned by the Head Start Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises Nutrition Employees
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As required, ensure complete and accurate web time sheets for designated staff in a timely manner.
- Travel within the service area; some overnight and out-of-area travel for meetings is required.
- Must have valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of liability insurance on vehicle.
- Attend and present reports at Board and Policy Council meetings as requested.
- Complies with all rules, policies and procedures of the Agency.
- Maintains confidentiality of client and Agency information.
- Encourage parents, families, and community members to support the children and our program through the gift of time, goods, and/or monetary donations in order to continue receiving federal funding (in-kind & volunteer time).

- A baccalaureate degree is required, in a related field is preferred

- Related experience required

- Demonstrate a willingness to continue professional development.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or related software.
